Goals Based Budgeting

Cindy Bergvall, CPA  Bee, Bergvall & Co.

8:30 AM-12:00 PM

Can your budget help you better impact your community? A budget is a plan for how you will use your financial and people resources. You use your financial and people resources to accomplish your mission. The more closely we align our resources with our mission, the greater our community impact.

This workshop will explore the connection between your plan to use your financial and people resources (your budget) and your desired impact on the community.

We will look at Goal Based Budgeting (also known as Impact Based Budgeting). This process is not merely a financial exercise. It involves examining the correlation between your actions and your desired impact. The evaluation of cause and effect is not easy but the process helps you determine where your dollars and time is best spent. Once your budget is clearly connected to your strategy your whole organization is integrated to best achieve impact.

We will work through some practical exercises as a group to illustrate various tools that you can use.

We encourage you to bring your budget; a recent profit & loss compared to budget statement; your mission statement; and your strategic plan or goals. For maximum benefit we recommend that both finance and program people from your organization attend.

Thanks to our corporate sponsor, Bookminders, there is no charge for this program, however registration is required.

Board Boot Camp

The Peak Center at North Penn Commons

606 E. Main Street

Lansdale, PA 19446

The Board Boot Camp program has been designed for both new and experienced board members to learn or refresh their skills on being an effective nonprofit board member. This does not happen by accident, but rather by thoughtful and consistent attention to the role of board members in your organization.

We focus on skills effective board members possess. By structuring the evening into two tracks, we are able to direct the discussion at the appropriate level for each group.

Freshman Track ~ for individuals who have served for less than two years on a nonprofit board and are interested in learning about the more general duties of board members.

Advanced Track ~ for individuals who have experience serving for many years or on a variety of boards and are looking to gain insight on the tools used by more mature boards.
